Reporting to the Director, Facilities Planning and Management:

Duties
• Manage the operations of maintenance and repairs to the campus buildings.
• Directs a team of technical staff in responding to on-going and emergency maintenance through a work order system.
• Oversees the transportation, shipping and receiving of goods delivered to the Campus, according to procurement protocols and receiving best practices. Provides risk management oversight for the assets received through to delivery to Academic and operational divisions.
• Provides 24 hr. emergency response to Facilities related issues. Also, acts as the key resource during interruptions of campus building services.
• Manages preventative maintenance program and follow up on warranty claims as required related to new College assets.
• Manages HVAC operations for all building systems, overseeing exterior ground maintenance, and oversight of parking lots on campus.
• Directs response on campus during emergency situations e.g. a utility interruption, fire, flood, etc.
• Develops & administers Campus operational budget and ensures effective use of Human, Fiscal and Physical resources.
• Manages annual contracts for services, utilities and supplies.
• Acts as Competent Supervisor for purposes of Health & Safety legislation, compiling all Ministry requirements for reporting, training and supervising.
• Represents the department on the Joint Health & Safety Committee. Establishes and monitors Health & safety practices & initiates corrective action with respect to staff and physical environment.
• Stays current with changes in Health & Safety legislation.
• Oversees Event Management responsibilities, including coordinating, managing and organizing facilities & services for periodic/special functions including inventory of alcoholic beverages, facilities set-ups, and managing space rentals to external organizations. Works with external groups to ensure successful implementation of events in a manner to not negatively impact the College’s brand or reputation
Qualifications:
• Four-year degree in one of either Engineering or Architecture; P. Eng is an asset. Architecture degree with a focus in Building Science considered an asset.
• Engineering experience in mechanical systems design and operations or Building Science experience in building operations are required.
• Minimum of seven years directly related experience managing Facilities and operating building systems in a large complex, public (unionized) institutional environment.
• Experience developing business plans and budgets.
• Building Automation Systems proficiency required.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of Building science and Occupational Health and Safety.
• Sound knowledge of Federal, Provincial, Municipal codes (including Building and Fire Codes) and energy management.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively to address facilities and custodial issues in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated leadership in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience and styles.
• Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.

Compensation:
• Salary Range: $79,769- $99,711
• Comprehensive Benefits and an excellent Pension plan.
