Georgian is home to 11,000 full-time students with more than 1,600 international students from 60 countries. Georgian is the first college in Canada, and one of just over 40 institutions world-wide, to be designated a Changemaker Campus by Ashoka U – the leading designation in higher education for social innovation. Georgian’s vision to accelerate success through exceptional teaching and learning, innovation and partnerships is achieved through a clear sense of purpose and commitment to students and community. Offering a collaborative team environment, opportunities for personal and professional growth and development, and the chance to make a difference in the lives of students, it’s no wonder Georgian has cultivated a reputation for being a leading, innovative and inspiring workplace!

As a leading post-secondary institution, Georgian College continues to evolve and transform. Over the past five years, the College has invested over $44 million in new and state-of-the-art infrastructure – including but not limited to: the soon-to-be-opened Advanced Technology Innovation and Research Centre (ATIRC); the Arch and Helen Brown Design and Digital Arts Centre in downtown Barrie; the Marine Emergencies Duties Centre and Student Fitness Centre in Owen Sound; and significant investments to support the student experience, including the athletic sports field, cafeteria and Student Services Centre in Barrie. These exciting new spaces offer exceptional teaching, learning and social environments for all to live, study, work and play!

Georgian is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader as its new Executive Director, Physical Resources. Reporting to the Vice-President, Corporate Services, the Executive Director will ensure a vibrant, safe and welcoming teaching and learning environment for Georgian’s students, staff and the public. As a member of the VP’s management team, you will be accountable for the effective planning, development and execution of the College’s integrated facilities planning framework, including campus development strategies, and the use of space for College teaching, learning, social and work environments, while ensuring the effective stewardship and management of all College physical and capital assets and resources. The role has oversight (through a team of 1 Associate Director, 4 Managers, and 35 full-time and part-time staff) for over 1.4 million square feet of facilities at Georgian’s 7 campuses, with an annual $22 million operating and capital renewal budget, with accountability for: Facilities Planning; Architectural Services; Building, Grounds and Maintenance; Mechanical/Electrical; Facilities Management; Energy/Environmental Management; and the procurement, negotiation and management of facilities-related service level agreements, contracts and leases.

The successful candidate should ideally be an Engineer, Architect or Planner with a minimum of 15 years related, progressive experience with at least 5 years in a similar senior role within a large, complex unionized operation. A recognized designation in their field is considered an asset (but is not mandatory). Sound strategic thinking, planning, leadership, management, collaboration and communication skills are necessary, along with a personal and professional commitment to ensuring Georgian’s values of excellence, community engagement, integrity, inclusion and sustainability.

The College offers a competitive compensation range of $111,078 – $148,464, plus a range of other attractive benefits, including a comprehensive benefits plan, CAAT defined-benefit pension plan, tuition reimbursement and fee support, computer purchase and subsidized fitness membership.
