Executive Director,
Real Estate & Facilities Management and Corporate Security

Broad in scope and organizational impact, this executive role is an exciting opportunity for an industry leader to model best practices in facilities, real estate and corporate security management.

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), an independent trust agency that administers compensation and no-fault insurance for Ontario workplaces. The WSIB is looking for a client focussed, action-oriented agent of change to join its leadership team as Executive Director, Real Estate & Facilities Management and Corporate Security. Guided by the values of Trust, Fairness and Integrity, and reporting to the VP of the Strategic Procurement, Real Estate + Facilities Management and Corporate Security Division, you will play a key role in delivering on the WSIB’s vision “To be the leading workplace compensation board” by leading all aspects of the Branches within your portfolio. You will work closely with senior management as you develop and execute annual business plans, oversee staff and execute all day-to-day activity for the branches across the province, while ensuring that all work is aligned to the Operational Plan and Corporate Strategic Plan, and Service Level Expectations.

Among your top priorities as the new Executive Director will be leading the development and execution province-wide of a Facilities Strategy focused on space optimization, cost synergies, and transforming the way we work. You will also lead our Corporate Security Strategy that includes threat risk assessment, and threat prevention and response Collaborative, credible and confident, you will also provide technical leadership and expertise to senior management and other internal stakeholders on branch-related matters, establish facilities and security policies and standards, and build capacity across the Division and the broader WSIB.

With a degree in Engineering, Finance or Business, preferably at the graduate level, and 7 to 10 years of facilities, real estate, and corporate security experience working in a related capacity, you have proven your ability to lead, coach, motivate and develop high-performing teams, capably delegating and instilling a sense of accountability. An exceptional communicator and relationship builder with strong negotiation, mediation and client management skills, you know how to build strategic partnerships and achieve results.

As the ideal candidate, you will preferably have direct experience in managing and successfully delivering large capital projects in the $50M-$100M range, with a track record of success in commercial real estate and space optimization, and knowledge of legal documents, contract management, and all applicable codes, standards and legislation. While not essential, a PMP (Project Management Professional) or CPP (Certified Physical Security Professional) designation would be advantageous, along with experience in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and/or Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
