Islington Golf Club is a private club founded in 1923, during the “Golden Age” of golf course construction and designed by renowned architect, Stanley Thompson. Surrounded by 6500 yards of golf course parkland in Toronto’s west end with Mimico Creek winding its way through tree-lined fairways, the club is a wonderful place to enjoy a day on the links with family and friends.
Awarded Club of the Year 2019 by the Canadian Society of Club Managers, we provide an excellent working environment and are pleased to be hosting the practice facilities for the Canadian Open in June 2020.

Position Summary

As a key member of the management team, this position is responsible for the Club’s overall maintenance and cleaning operations, including all internal and external facilities, systems and equipment. This is a “hands on” management position to maintain and manage multiple functions of building operations and maintenance within the Club.

This position is also responsible and accountable for supervision and day to day successful operation of our Locker Room and Cleaning Teams and overseeing that our S.O.P’s are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities
• Monitor day-to-day operations and overall facilities to ensure efficiency.
• Conduct daily facility inspections
• Perform basic facility and troubleshooting maintenance and housekeeping repairs of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, including kitchen equipment.
• Lead and manage other special projects
• Oversee operation of facility emergency systems for security, fire, power failure etc.
• Accountable and responsible for ensuring the upkeep of our facilities in terms of housekeeping and cleaning and adhering to high standards and expectations from our members
• Manage and coordinate maintenance and capital projects of varying complexity to achieve goals related to scope, quality, time and budget
• Build and maintain positive relations with all departments and respond with a sense of urgency to maintenance/housekeeping service requests
• Engage the services of external contractors to perform work, including sourcing, overseeing work, negotiating contract terms and managing the relationship
• Participate as a Certified member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and actively promote a safe work environment
• Lead and manage our Cleaning and Locker Room teams including recruitment, training, motivation & coaching, reward & recognition, scheduling, discipline Collaborate with Clubhouse Manager and/or General Manager to coordinate major building efficiencies, repairs and purchases
• Prepare and manage facilities management budget, forecasting and capital project expenditures
• Ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, building code and health and safety issues
• Maintain a preventive maintenance program within budget on all systems, including detailed record keeping and costs on all equipment.
• Purchase required inventory, parts and supplies in a cost-effective manner
• Coordinate with F&B department for event / function set up and tear downs, including logistics and resources.
• Ensure scheduling of cleaning team during special events.
• Coordinates all waste and recycling programs and ensures cost effective and efficient disposal with outside contractor
• Performs other duties as directed by Clubhouse Manager/General Manager
• Ensure communication and appropriate coverage from your Team to carry out your responsibilities when not on site.

Work Hours
• Work hours are based on business demands. Flexibility is required as hours may vary based on demands
• Additional hours and/or weekend hours may be required during peak times or to ensure project completion

Education / Certification / Work Experience
• 5 years “hands on” maintenance and facilities management experience with well-rounded knowledge of building equipment and repairs
• Post-Secondary Education with Certification in HVAC, Electrical and plumbing preferred
• Must be able to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
• Effectively manage employee performance utilizing appropriate processes including establishing objectives, coaching, mentoring and corrective disciplinary action
• Able to plan and manage within budget and time constraints
• Experience implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program
• Project management experience (managing scope, time, cost, contracts, materials and risks)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
• Level 1 & 2 H&S Certification
