The position of CRE Facility Planner reports to the Associate Vice-President, CRE Workplace Solutions. The Facility Planner is responsible for the Space Allocation of all employee and Business Unit space at Canadian Tire’s Home Office with advisory duties to other CTC locations and Banners as needed. This includes high level strategic planning and day to day space planning for all Home Office Building planning requests in an effective and cost efficient manner as well as drawings for space reconfigurations, preliminary planning for larger projects and other drawings to support the Corporate Real Estate team.

What you’ll do

The Facility Planner must be able to carry out solutions from inception to completion including client interaction, space planning, communication to Business as well as direct Manager and may include; furniture coordination and construction coordination, budget development and tracking of requests. Individuals in this role must have strong organizational and communication skills and be comfortable dealing with all levels of the Corporation.

Space Planning/ Design:
Oversee all space standards and space management for Home Office. Including interviewing internal clients to determine requirements and provide proposals to meet their needs while maintaining the organization’s standards.
Support the AVP, Workplace Solutions with Long Term workplace solutions such as the development and implementation of Activity Based Workspace or other similar programs to create a workplace in the future to support Canadian Tires’ workforce
Arrange for the production of floor plans and detail packages for furniture reconfigurations, preliminary planning for larger projects, conceptual plans for multi floor strategic planning etc. via third party Interior Design Partners
Develop and maintain furniture standards and space standards
Develop and maintain signage/wayfinding standards and branding standards
Maintain accurate Master Drawings and Standard drawing layering system for internal and external consultant use
Develop, implement and maintain cost effective, efficient and well controlled business processes with standard operating procedures, incorporating industry best practices and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
Develop space use guidelines based on best practices and industry standards. This may include developing guidelines for use of project rooms, meeting rooms, hoteling, break out rooms and any other Planning Program to support the needs of the organization. Different Banners may require different standards programs.
May be required to communicate and advise Facility Staff in other Banners on space standards programs
Collaborate with CAFM Specialist to develop strategic portfolio stacking plans and proposals as needed.
Oversee furniture procurement for Capital Projects
Support the AVP, Workplace Solutions in the development of the Capital Project Budgets for furniture and signage
Other project and general premises duties as assigned.

Other Duties
Supervision of external vendors and resources as required
Overtime and flexibility in work hours may be required
Back up user of the CAFM system

What you bring

Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Design, Architecture, or Project Management
Minimum 10 years’ experience in Facility Services or related field
Superior interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence,) skills essential
Expert level of design and construction industry knowledge and experience is essential
Excellent time management skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation, listening, written and verbal communication skills
Computer proficiency in Project Management software, Microsoft Office, Excel, and project scheduling tools
Ability to work with AutoCAD and CAFM systems strongly beneficial
Working knowledge of building codes as well as various environment, health and safety regulations and requirements.
Valid driver’s License to enable periodic travel to other CTC sites in the GTA.

Be able to administer a number of different types of construction contracts, including but not limited to: stipulated lump sum, cost plus, construction management, design build, etc.
Achieve continuous cost reductions, timing, utilizing process improvements, and value engineering.
Ability to work with staff, middle management and occasional senior management throughout the Corporation in regard to design of space, space allocations/projects.
Work with Consultants and stakeholders regarding the development of the project scope.
