Job Description

This position is responsible for the technical aspects of the corporate facility asset management program including the corporate facility asset management system, identification and costing of capital facility renewal needs. In addition is responsible for developing and maintaining condition assessment data on the City’s facilities, identifying renewal needs and monitoring of appropriate design and maintenance standards that would ensure that the City’s properties are designed, built and maintained in an effective and energy efficient manner and in compliance with the requirements of applicable legislation.
The Senior Coordinator is responsible to:
1. Oversee the day-to-day management of the facilities asset management team.
2. Supervise the development and maintenance of the City’s facility asset management system including field data collection, condition assessments and development of related rehabilitation and financing strategies.
3. Develop corporate standards for asset tracking, preventative maintenance with a link to capital planning.
4. Develop replacement and expansion plans for corporate assets including the preparation of long-term capital renewal plans based on full life-cycle cost as identified.
5. Identify cost effective opportunities to extend asset life in facilities.
6. Represent the facility asset category in the implementation and maintenance on the corporate asset management team.
7. Develop performance strategies for the delivery of technical services required to maximize cost savings in the City’s facilities and operations including energy efficiencies and building system monitoring.
8. Provide asset management advisory services to internal customers.
9. Contribute to the development and updating of the Corporation’s long-term asset management strategy.
10. Establish technical standards and policies related to Corporate facility asset management and reporting.
11. Benchmark the City’s facility asset management practices with practices in the public and private sector.
12. Facilitate and coordinate corporate facility audits and makes recommendations based on information obtained through the audit process.
This position needs to have a good understanding of facility maintenance and renewal, generally gained through one of the following educational tracks: University degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Structural or Building Sciences, Community College diploma in Architectural Technology, Facility Management or Ontario Recreation Facilities Association certification in Facilities Management. Project Management (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Certified Building Code Official (CBCO) designations are assets. We are seeking a minimum of five (5) years experience in asset management, preferably in the public sector. Strong ability to multi task within tight deadlines, attention to detail, communication, decision making, organization and interpersonal skills are required for this position.
Salary: $80,326-$100,407 (Grade 11)
