APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE POSITION OF SENIOR MANAGER – CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT FACILITIES DEPARTMENT
Non-Union Level 7: $88,488 – $106,180

CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• Degree from a recognized university or college in architecture, engineering, building technology and/or project management
• Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in contract construction administration in a senior management role with proven project management skills and experience in developing budgets and financial models for capital programs
• Membership in an appropriate professional association such as the Ontario Association of Architects, Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario or Project Management Institute an asset
• Thorough knowledge of public sector consultant and construction contracts and tendering procedures and policies
• Proficient with a range of current software programs including MS Project and other business programs
• Knowledge of school program, design, construction and school issues
• Proven ability to define work scope for external consultants and teams
• Proven ability to work with multi disciplinary groups including school communities, school administrators, senior staff, consultants and others who will be required in project/program delivery
• Proven ability to direct, organize, monitor and supervise staff and consultants as part of programs or projects
• Thorough knowledge of relevant government codes and regulations
• Works well under pressure and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills
• Strong analytical, negotiation and problem- solving skills
• Ability to work independently or with a team

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the Senior Coordinator – Capital Development, you will provide leadership, direction and best practices for the Capital and Facilities Services programs/projects. Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Assume technical leadership, best practices, schedule management and oversee/direct the building issues and provide ongoing communications with stakeholders including superintendents, principals, senior staff, consultants and other Board staff
• Monitor financial status and controls on programs/projects including consultant and construction contract changes
• Provide best practices and oversight on municipal approvals from the City of Toronto
• Perform support related to Capital Development and Facilities Services programs and projects including: preparation of reports and studies for internal use and board meetings; supporting the Department Head with strategic planning of the capital programs; tracking and monitoring the overall program status including schedule and financial status; responding to requests for information internally and externally; capital program website information and updates
• Act as the board representative and advocate, coordinate and attend meetings with the users, board staff, project supervisors, consultants and others that will be involved in the program/project delivery
• Ongoing communications with all levels of the Board including school communities/administrators and senior staff
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required

NOTE: This position may require travelling to TCDSB sites on a regular basis. The incumbent must have a vehicle available to use and a valid Ontario driver’s license. (Eligibility for mileage reimbursement). Requires wearing of appropriate and current safety equipment for TCDSB construction sites.
